ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS
FOR CHINESE CULTURE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

Chinese Culture Research Fellowship is full scholarship. It aims at sponsoring foreign experts engaged in the study of Chinese culture to further their understanding of modern China, to deepen their research of the long and profound Chinese culture and tradition so as to enhance the friendship between the Chinese people and people from all over the world. The China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as the CSC) takes charge of the applications for and management of this scholarship.

1. The duration of the scholarship.
The duration of the scholarship shall not exceed 5 months and cannot be extended. Under special circumstances, the researcher should apply for extension one month before the end of the scholarship. The application for extension must be attached with the institutionĄŻs approval and sent to the CSC for examination and approval. The extension shall not exceed one month.

2. The details of the scholarship.
1). Full scholarship: tuition These three are appropriated to the
emergency medical care institution.
lodging
living allowance: Applicants receive CNY 3000 yuan per month by
the institution
Reference materials: A lump-sum of CNY 750 yuan
Research tour: A reimbursement of not more than CNY 1000 Yuan
if approved by the instructor according to the
research need.
2). Applicants shall bear their own expenses for international trip.

3. Research area and period
1). Researchers shall engage in the fields such as Chinese language, literature, history, philosophy, education, economics, ancient architecture, history of art and traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. The research shall be conducted in Chinese language. For the potential institutions and professors, please refer to the Ą°Name List for Academic TutoringĄą on the website of the CSC.
2). It is kindly advised that the research be carried out between February and June or September and the following January according to Chinese academic calendar.

4. Qualifications of the applicants
1). Applicants must be of non-Chinese nationality and be healthy and under the age of 55.
2). Applicants must hold professor associate professor titles, or must have obtained doctoral degree; masterĄŻs degree holders must have been engaged in the Chinese culture research for three consecutive years after obtaining masterĄŻs degree.
3). Applicants must hold fixed profession engaging or mainly engaging in Chinese culture research.

5. Submission of application materials
1). Qualified applicants shall fill out the Application Form for Chinese Culture Research Fellowship (one original, one photocopy). Please ask for the Application Form for Chinese Culture Research Fellowship from the CSC, or through the related Chinese institutions, professors, researchers or the Chinese embassy (consulate).
2). Submission of the following materials
a. list of publications
b. letter of recommendation by the person in charge of the working institution
Applicants shall send the filled out Ą°Application Form for Chinese Culture Research FellowshipĄą to the CSC three months before the intended research.

6. The approval of the scholarship
After receiving the application materials, the CSC, within 45 days, will entrust relevant experts to process the application materials and shall send the Instrument of Ratification of Ą°Chinese Culture Research FellowshipĄą and the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (JW201) to the candidates through the Chinese embassy (consulate), or directly to the candidates.

7. The handling of visa to China and residence in China
Scholarship holders shall bear general passport to apply for the F visa with the original copies of Admission Notice and Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China to the Chinese embassy (consulate) and register in China with the original forms of the above documents.
2). After registering in the institution, scholarship holders shall, with their passports and the original form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, go through the procedures for temporary residency permit to the local police authority with their passports, Admission Notice, Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China.
3). Upon completion of research, the researchers shall submit research reports to the CSC.
