The International Religious Freedom Report for 2000 recently issued by the US State Department made wanton remarks and discreet criticisms on many countries' religious situation. The China-related part turned a deaf ear to the protection by the Chinese Government according to law of its citizens' freedom of religious belief and normal religious activities and grossly interfered in China's internal affairs by fabricating and distorting facts and making uninvited attacks on China's religious policy and religious freedom. The Chinese side expresses its strong dissatisfaction with and resolute opposition to it and urges the US side to stop and correct such egregiously erroneous act.
